Principal's Report

Dear Families,

HARMONY DAY TOMORROW - REMINDER
Tomorrow we celebrate Harmony Day at Wallington PS. Harmony Day is celebrated to promote inclusiveness, respect, and a sense of belonging for everyone, regardless of cultural background. It encourages all of us to appreciate diversity and foster a welcoming, harmonious school community, which is something so important and special about being a part of Wallington Primary School.

Remember to come wearing a splash of orange over your school uniform and bring a gold coin donation. All money raised will go towards the purchase and installation of permanent junior basketball rings.

CHESS CLUB

Chess club is due to return in Term 2! Students will be excited to learn about an upcoming free trial day (Monday 31st March). Chess helps primary school children develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. It improves concentration, memory, and patience, while also fostering creativity, strategic planning, and sportsmanship. Additionally, it boosts self-esteem and teaches the value of practice and perseverance through challenging yet enjoyable learning experiences. See the Notice Board below for more details.

OUT OF HOURS SCHOOL CARE - WOODLANDS HOUSE

A friendly reminder that our wonderful Woodlands House before and after school care service is available to support families with quality care outside of school hours. The dedicated Woodlands team provides a range of fun and engaging activities to suit all ages.

Casual bookings are available, offering flexibility for busy families. Plus, with the Easter school holidays just around the corner, it’s a great time to check out their fantastic Holiday Program, designed to keep children entertained, active, and happy over the break.

For more information or to make a booking, get in touch with the friendly team at Woodlands. They’d love to welcome you!

WORKING TOGETHER

At Wallington, we truly value the partnership we share with our families. Whether to seek clarity, offer suggestions, or raise concerns, your feedback plays an important role in helping us grow and improve. We are committed to open, respectful communication and believe that working together leads to the best outcomes for our students.

Our policies, processes, and supports are regularly reviewed, informed by the helpful insights shared by our community. We appreciate the thoughtful conversations that support positive change, as we apply our professional judgement with the best interests of all students at heart. Whether you connect with the office, our classroom teachers, or myself, please know we are always here to listen, support, and work alongside you.

We particularly understand that families are busy and time is precious, which is why we strive to keep our communication clear and efficient. Whole school information is shared here through the weekly newsletter, while Newsfeed items and events are purposely directed to specific groups aiming to reduce a sense of information overload. For more detailed explanations about our teaching, learning, and wellbeing approaches, our website provides comprehensive information and resources and is regularly reviewed and updated.

Art Gallery

Year 5/6 Hoodies

Students designed their own hoody top, dividing it into sections about themselves, including year level and what year they were established Students learnt how to write their name in bubble writing. Using mixed media, students applied art elements, pattern and line to decorate each section. A portrait photo was cut out and glued down, attaching it to the hoody top. Positive descriptive words were written around the body and head to describe each student's personality.

Fabulous work Year 5 and 6!

Wellbeing at Wallington

Welcome back to Wallington’s weekly wellbeing activities!

We’re on the home stretch to the holidays and I’m sure everyone is looking forward to having two weeks to rest and rejuvenate. This week's activity focuses on stress and how we can support ourselves when we’re feeling overwhelmed and stressed.

Scan the QR code, answer the questions and make a list of people that your child can talk to when they’re feeling stressed.

Our Thursday Wallington P.S. Breakfast Club is continuing to be a great success in providing a relaxed, fun environment where students can meet their friends before school starts, making it a social experience they enjoy.

As we know a nutritious breakfast helps fuel the brain, leading to better focus, memory, and concentration during class. Students who eat breakfast are more likely to stay engaged and participate actively in lessons.

Thankyou to Ms Cook and our Year 6 students for preparing the breakfast and to our students for coming to Breakfast Club. Mrs P also popped in to say hi.

See you next week!
